CBD MYTHS & REALITY: How much is too much?

Can it be possible to get too much of a good thing? Just how many mg of CBD do you consume at one time? Researchers discovered that 600 mg per day tends to be safe, although one study found that a daily dose of up to 1,500 mg of CBD per day is also safe and well-tolerated. Although everybody’s body chemistry and body weight is different, exceeding 1,500 mg of CBD per day does not seem necessary.

Another impactful factor we all need to take into consideration is the bombardment of political, cultural, and religious myths and misinformation that scare and maliciously persuade the public of extreme myths about CBD. Let’s explore some recommendations and factors on how to take the right dosage for CBD.

Let's review this article on 4 common myths about CBD.

MYTHS & FACTS

Myth: CBD gets you high

Fact: CBD improves mood, but it is not psychoactive

CBD products primarily come from hemp, which has a high level of CBD and barely a trace of THC. Marijuana comes from Cannabis plants that have a very high concentration of THC. Though marijuana contains some CBD, it delivers a significant amount of THC, the ingredient that gives you a high, euphoric experience.

Myth: CBD doesn’t cause side effects

Fact: CBD interacts with certain medications

CBD is generally considered safe from side effects. However, it can interact with medications. It affects the way your body metabolizes certain medications, which may change their blood levels and affect their therapeutic impact.

Myth: CBD is just a con

Fact: CBD contains active ingredients

Your body produces substances called endocannabinoids that are similar to the cannabinoids found in Cannabis plants. Your natural biochemicals activate receptors in different parts of your body, where they trigger specific reactions, and improve your health.

CBD improves problems such as:

  • Inflammation

  • Chronic pain

  • Neuropathic pain

  • Headaches

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • PTSD

  • Insomnia

Myth: All CBD products get the same results

Fact: Every CBD product is different

Quality varies widely between CBD products. Testing by the FDA shows that the CBD content found in some products doesn’t match the claims made on the label. Other CBD products tested by the FDA didn’t contain any CBD.

Mg CBD vs Percentage

Have you ever purchased a product and not gotten any CBD effects from it after a few weeks of use? Maybe the potency wasn’t as high as the label said! Or perhaps you weren’t aware that the milligrams of CBD indicate the ratio of CBD to the other ingredients that make up the solution.

Users of CBD, especially new users, can struggle to determine the strength of a CBD product based on the information on the label. It’s not always as easy as reading a number of milligrams. We’re going to show you how to convert the milligrams of your CBD oil to the percentage strength rating or see the conversion table further down the article. This will help you understand drop for drop how strong your CBD or capsules really are. Of course, the higher the percentage the higher the concentration of CBD in the drops or oil.

The power of CBD oil isn't measured in milligrams of CBD

What sometimes confuses people about the mg CBD amount is that they believe it to be the product’s strength, which it isn’t, particularly if you calculate your doses by the number of drops. Most people, in our experience, calculate doses in drops (or droppers).

This is due to the fact that there is another factor to consider: the volume of the product container. Nobody thinks about it, but oil comes in a variety of bottle sizes, including 10ml, 30ml, 60ml, and even 100ml.

CBD Tincture Example

A 10ml bottle of CBD Oil labeled with 1000 mg and a 20ml bottle marked as 1000 mg are not the same strength. So, one of these bottles is stronger despite containing the same amount of CBD.

Drop-by-drop, the strength of the 20ml bottle is just half that of the 10ml bottle. Yes, they both produce the same amount of cannabinoids overall, but if you calculate the dose in drops as most of us do, you’ll only get half the amount of CBD if you use 5 drops of the 20ml product vs 5 drops of the 10ml size product.

To put it another way, the same amount of CBD has been diluted into a much greater volume of carrier oil, resulting in a lower concentration in each drop. The concentration, or true measure of a product’s drop-for-drop power, is represented by the percentage on the label.

Factors that Affect CBD Dosage

1. Lifestyle

Every individual will respond differently to CBD due to lifestyle factors including: health status, stress level, diet, genetics, diseases, and more.

2. Tolerance

First-time users are recommended a lower starting dosage of around 1-3mg. Does can be increased slightly every day, but should stop when significant benefits are noticed to avoid overloading the body’s cannabinoid receptors.

3. Sensitivity

It,s important to always listen to your body to determine how much CBD you should take, pause, take note of how you feel before taking your product and then make a note to tune back in half an hour later.

4. Extracts

When the option is available, get a Full Spectrum or THC-Free Broad Spectrum extract to get the full benefits of the hemp plant’s entourage effect. Full-spectrum CBD features hemp in its purest form with 0.3% THC, while THC- free Board Spectrum CBD features hemp in its purest form with the THC removed. CBD Isolate contains isolated CBD and is often synthetic or overly- processed. do your best to avoid this extract.

Which Type of CBD Should I Choose?

CBD Capsules & Edibles

When cannabinoids are digested through the gut, they undergo a chemical change that alters their structure as cannabinoids. This alters their chemical structure resulting in benefits within 30-90 minutes and long-lasting up to 7 hours.

CBD Oils & Sprays

A traditional CBD oil-based tincture or spray is meant to be taken sublingually (under the tongue), as the rich veins on the bottom of your tongue absorb the CBD directly into the bloodstream. This allows the CBD to travel throughout the body and work its magic before returning to the liver to be metabolized, providing effects within 20-40 mins and lasting 6 hours.

CBD Vapes & Smokeables

Smokable CBD extracts are the fastest-acting dosage method. You may feel effects within a few seconds after inhaling, with peak effects occurring after just a few minutes, and lasting up to 3 hours. This is a great product for those who enjoy the process of smoking cannabis and need quick relief.

CBD Lotions & Balms

CBD topicals come in a variety of forms to meet your needs.CBD balm, CBD lotion, CBD massage oil, and more. Effects may be felt within 30-90 minutes, with a lasting duration of up to 6 hours. This is the ideal product for those primarily concerned with using CBD for physical discomfort.

Trusted CBD Brands

The first and most important factor to consider is choosing a CBD brand you can trust. It’s important that you understand exactly what you’re taking and that the advertised dosage suits what’s in the bottle. Making cannabidiol products isn’t simple, and you need to know that your CBD oils, CBD capsules, and supplements are free of unnecessary additives and chemicals.
